What's in your Toolbelt - a new series by Edge Factor

Choosing the right tool for the job may be second nature for some of us, so we rarely stop to think about it. That’s what Edge Factor’s new series for grade 3-4 students is all about: helping them realize you need to use the right tools for the right job, and showing them what types of tools, gear, and equipment are used in real world careers!

The Edge Factor platform is built to guide learners of all ages with features and tools to move them forward on their career journey. With thousands of videos, activities, and lesson plans, Edge Factor's e-learning tools are all categorized into 4 phases of the Career Journey: Inspiration, Exploration, Preparation, and Connection. Everything we create is age-appropriate and aligned to learning outcomes, specific to the stage of the journey the learner is on.

Edge Factor’s K-Gray strategy means our creative teams, e-learning coordinators, and storytellers are working together to build media and digital tools for every age group, from Kindergarten through to retirement,” said Tima Borges, Marketing Coordinator at Edge Factor. “We are filming and publishing more content than ever - and faster than ever before.”

In Edge Factor’s new series, students in Grades 3 - 4 can explore careers in the skilled trades as they learn to use the right tools for the right job! Real-life people answer the question, "What's in your toolbelt?" as they show and tell the different types of tools, gear, or equipment they use on the job.

In the What’s in Your Toolbelt? series Edge Factor premium members hear from an Ironworker at KickAss Careers, a Layout Carpenter at Bellai Bros Construction, a Wind Technician at Evolugen and many more.  Each video episode is accompanied by downloadable activities and lesson plans educators and families can use to help learners engage and reflect on what they have learned. Filmed on-site in work environments, this series specifically highlights people and tools related to skilled trades.

This all-new series provides young learners with answers to common questions and makes meaningful connections while showcasing diverse individuals working in various industries and careers. This video series also identifies the value of using tools properly to maintain personal safety and encourages learners to reflect on their personal interests and strengths to set career life goals.
