Ontario East Economic Development partners with Edge Factor to Empower the Future Workforce

Edge Factor is excited to host an exhibitor booth at the Ontario East Municipal Conference (OEMC)  this week! Our Vice President, Larissa Hofman will be attending this event in-person and meeting with leaders to showcase the career exploration media and community landing pages we created, in partnership with the Ontario East Economic Development Commission and local workforce development planning boards.

The Ontario East Economic Development Commission is hosting it’s annual Ontario East Municipal Conference which will be held Wednesday, September 14 to Friday September 16 at the DEV Hotel and Conference Centre in Cornwall, Ontario. The Centre is large enough to accommodate multiple concurrent sessions and allow delegates, speakers and exhibitors to stay on site.

As indicated on the OEMC website, this event “has developed into the largest annual regional municipal conference east of Toronto. The delegates comprise a diverse group of elected officials, economic development professionals, entrepreneurs, municipal service providers, private sector business leaders and provincial ministry representatives. With three streams: Economic Development, Municipal & Community Development and Workforce Development.”

Leveraging the Power of Storytelling

Using the power of storytelling, Edge Factor takes learners on a career journey from "I have no idea what I want to do with my life!" all the way to, “I have browsed the opportunities, made informed decisions, and launched a local training and career pathway.”

Edge Factor is a family-friendly career exploration platform, where students, parents, and job-seekers become inspired to launch their own training and career pathways. It features real life stories of people pushing back the edge of what’s possible and using their minds, hands, and technology to build the future and impact lives. In partnership with  Workforce Development Board, Center for Workforce Development, Eastern Ontario Training Board and the Eastern Workforce Innovation Board, the Edge Factor film crew went behind closed doors to film 25+ Virtual Workplace Experiences, Career Profiles, 55+ Geek Out videos as well as additional videos on Soft Skills and Safety Awareness.

The Skilled Responders series features real life people, working in various industries, sharing what inspired them to launch their training and career pathways. This series inspires students to explore careers as they experience the enthusiasm and passion industry leaders like, Dr. Todd Woods, Director of Chiropractic has for his career.

In the Soft Skills on the Job series industry professionals help learners prepare for future careers as they share insights on important soft skills they use on the job! Tony Engelsdorfer, Project Manager at Geertsma Homes Ltd. shares how dedication to work leads to future success.

Tony Engelsdorfer, Project Manager from Geertsma Homes quote To be successful you need to be willing to learn. All jobs are important.
