Edge Factor's Diversity in Skilled Trades Toolkit

From March - May 2022, we equipped 1161 locations, events, and presentations with tools to celebrate and promote diversity in skilled trades!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 9, 2022 – The results are in! Edge Factor and our partners successfully equipped thousands of educators, industry, and workforce leaders with high impact tools that showcased diverse people and careers in the skilled trades. These tools empowered students, jobseekers, and families to explore industries, careers, and training programs as they watched inspirational real life stories of diverse people in diverse careers.

The Diversity in Skilled Trades Toolkit was available in March, April, and May 2022 for families, schools, companies, and workforce leaders to host classroom and community events as well as share these multimedia tools online. This Toolkit is now officially closed for free members but will continue to be available for Edge Factor’s premium members. It was strategically made available to coincide with America’s “Celebrate Diversity” Month in April - a time to recognize and celebrate the beautiful tapestry of unique cultures, backgrounds and rich traditions.

In just three months, 1161 locations utilized the plug and play e-learning and career development tools included in the toolkit to inspire audiences around the globe! School districts and individual schools used the tools in classrooms and in assemblies. We had 12 School Districts, 938 K-12 Schools, 37 Postsecondary institutions, 123 Regional and National Service Providers, and 51 companies host events and presentations and/or watch and share the media.

In the US, 675 events were hosted across 38 states and in Canada, 297 events were hosted across 9 provinces. Globally, 189 events were hosted across 8 countries. That is an incredible number of events that were hosted live and virtually in a short amount of time.

We want to take a minute to say a big thank you to our partners ABB, CME, NEMA, NTMA/ AMPED, NCATC, Mastercam, California Arts Media & Entertainment, and Skills Ontario for making this toolkit possible. Thanks to our partners, communities and events across North America (and beyond) were equipped with virtual field trips, industry and career profiles, tools to demonstrate how Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) come alive in the trades, and media to teach important soft skills like teamwork, problem solving, the importance of lifelong learning, and many more. To help ensure schools, companies, and community workforce leaders understood how to access and share this toolkit, we created step by step "How To" Guides. These guides provided robust and easy to use checklists for how to host a successful live or virtual event and included a promotional kit with a customizable article, free images and social media captions.
