Women in Manufacturing Partners with Edge Factor

April 12, 2021 -The Women in Manufacturing Association (WiM) is partnering with Edge Factor to provide three free toolkits for organizations to inspire students and job-seekers to pursue careers in manufacturing.

 

This strategic Workforce Development initiative will provide WiM members, schools, companies, and Workforce leaders with FREE resources to build the workforce pipeline.

 

These virtual event toolkits include high impact multimedia, Keynote presentations, turnkey promotional tools, and guidebooks on how to plan, promote, host and follow-up on engaging virtual presentations. Each toolkit will empower students, parents, and job-seekers to explore the world of advanced manufacturing careers, STEAM on-the-job, and soft skills. 

 

Edge Factor, a widely-used e-learning platform has created thousands of videos, interactive activities, and lesson plans that focus on career exploration. K-12 and Postsecondary schools, companies, and organizations partner with Edge Factor to help tackle workforce development regionally and nationally. Using the power of storytelling, Edge Factor media showcases industries and career profiles, teaches soft skills, shows how STEAM comes alive in the real world, provides Virtual Workplace Experiences, and promotes training and career opportunities.

 

Featuring select tools from the Edge Factor library, these free Experiences will be available during specific 2021 months, for organizations to share in classrooms, homes, and at events. 

 

Edge Factor Experiences to inspire career exploration

 

“By 2025, 2.7 million baby boomers will retire from their manufacturing positions, which will leave an opening of 2 million jobs,” said Larissa Hofman, Vice President of Edge Factor. “By empowering women to explore and launch careers in manufacturing, we can help provide for families, equip companies to grow, strengthen communities, and change lives. We are so excited to partner with Women in Manufacturing to provide their members and network with tangible solutions to national workforce development needs.”

Women in Manufacturing (WiM) is the only national trade association dedicated to providing year-round support to women who have chosen a career in the manufacturing industry. WiM leads a network of partners and friends committed to building a more equitable, inclusive, and fulfilling workplace for women. WiM encompasses manufacturers of all types and welcomes individuals from every job function.

WiM is specifically partnering with Edge Factor on the following three 2021 Experiences: 

  1. Women in Skilled Trades (Mar - Apr 2021) - To celebrate International Women’s Day/ Month, this toolkit will celebrate and encourage women to pursue skilled trades! 

  2. Rock MFG DAY (Sept-Oct 2021) - Tools to promote careers and showcase how STEAM comes alive in the exciting world of advanced manufacturing.

  3. Apprenticeships (Nov-Dec 2021) - High impact resources for students and parents to discover the power of apprenticeship programs.
