Edge Factor empowered Indigenous Students to explore careers in skilled trades

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 23, 2021 –  The results are in! Edge Factor and our partners empowered 300 events across North America with tools to inspire Indigenous students and community members to explore careers in skilled trades and celebrate success stories of Indigenous Tradespeople.

Edge Factor’s free Indigenous Tradespeople Experience toolkit was available in May and June 2021 for families, schools, companies, and workforce leaders to host events and share these multimedia tools online. In the US,  89 Indigenous Tradespeople events were hosted across 20 states and in Canada, 211 events were hosted across 7 provinces and 1 Territory. That is incredible - 300 events in only two months! The organizations that hosted events included 82  school boards/ districts (representing hundreds of individual schools),  240 individual schools, 23 companies, and 33 regional and national Workforce Development leaders.

We want to take a minute to say a big thank you to our partners ABB, NPAAMB, CA-AME and myBlueprint for making these 300 events possible. And thank you to all of the educators, parents, industry and workforce leaders who registered for the Indigenous Tradespeople toolkit and shared free career exploration videos with students in classrooms, at events, and in homes!

The Indigenous Tradespeople Experience equipped Indigenous students and jobseekers to continue to explore Virtual Workplace Experiences, Career Profiles, to be inspired by  Indigenous Community Members who have launched careers in skilled trades. It also included an inspiring, empowering Keynote Presentation by Edge Factor, Founder and Producer titled, “Learning from Indigenous Peoples in Skilled Trades'.

To ensure school, workforce and industry leaders understood how to access and share this toolkit, we created "How To" Guides. These guides provided easy to use checklists for hosting a live or virtual event, a promotional kit with a customizable article, free images and social media captions!

Edge Factor’s Indigenous Tradespeople Experience is officially closed for free members. It will continue to be available all year for Edge Factor’s Premium members, but is no longer available for free.
