Fanshawe College partners with Edge Factor to showcase career focussed media and training programs.

Fanshawe College specializes in offering exceptional learning, career focused curriculum, and unique pathways to success. In their effort to help students in Grades 7 -12 get a head start on thinking about their future, they have partnered with Edge Factor to create a multimedia experience that showcases the education pathway and training programs available.

Edge Factor uses the power of cinematic storytelling to take students and job-seekers on a journey from "I have no idea what I want to do with my life!" all the way to, “I have browsed the opportunities, made informed decisions, and launched a local training and career pathway.” We have criss-crossed North America to produce thousands of videos and interactive activities that highlight every industry and these multimedia tools are delivered through the Edge Factor platform.

Partnering with Fanshawe College,  Edge Factor has filmed and published career exploration media featuring the training programs offered. We are proud to share free access to this media on an all-new landing page called, Fanshawe College has the Edge! This is a family-friendly space, where students, parents, and job-seekers become inspired to launch their own training and career pathways. It features an entertaining series of videos for Grade 7-8 students to discover the options available in high school to gain hands-on learning experiences. Students in Grades 9 -12 can watch and learn about the training programs available in sectors like construction, manufacturing, motive power, and the service industry.

The Educational Pathway videos for Grades 7 -8 students include downloadable lesson plans that help students develop an understanding of the recommended hard and soft skills as well as the hands-on training programs available in high school, like OYAP, SHSM, and other cooperative high school programs. Students will Identify STEAM skills used by industry professionals, and build their self-knowledge. Through the virtual tours, they will experience a workplace environment and explore “Where am I going?” Students will learn how to set career goals in order to plan for the future and reflect on how they can achieve success and reach their career goals.

Students in Grades 9-12 take a virtual tour of Fanshawe College's skilled trades programs as they hear from professors like Steve Duesbury, Professor, Motive Power Faculty.
