The 7th annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is taking place November 15 - 21, 2021! NAW is a nationwide celebration where industry, labor, equity, workforce, education, and government leaders host events to showcase the successes and value of apprenticeships for re-building our economy, advancing racial and gender equity, and supporting underserved communities. To celebrate NAW, schools, companies, and workforce leaders across the US and Canada are using Edge Factor’s free Apprenticeship toolkit to highlight the power of apprenticeship programs and showcase apprenticeable career pathways!

Apprenticeship programs equip students and job-seekers to take what they have learned in the classroom and apply it in the real world. This provides an opportunity for them to discover if that trade is a right fit. Edge Factor’s Apprenticeships Toolkit equips educators, industry, and workforce leaders with high-impact media and tools to host a virtual or live event that both celebrates and promotes apprenticeship opportunities regionally and nationally.

Edge Factor has created thousands of cinematic stories, videos, lesson plans, interactive activities, planning guides, toolkits, and more, that are used in classrooms, homes, and at events to help students and job-seekers discover careers and prepare to enter the workforce. The online Apprenticeships Toolkit includes e-learning resources and real life stories of apprentices pushing back the edge of what’s possible. This collection of tools will inspire students and job-seekers to pursue apprenticeable careers and learn what a “day in the life” looks like in specific apprenticeable careers.

The Apprenticeship Experience Toolkit will be available completely for free for everyone to watch, enjoy, and share until December 31, 2021. The toolkit includes:

  • three videos from the brand new “Why Care?” series featuring industry leaders sharing insights and expertise on why we should care about apprenticeships, skilled trades and the characteristics of a good apprentice.

  • “5 Days of STEAM” media including award winning films, Career Profiles, walk and talk field trips/ tours of manufacturing companies called Virtual Workplace Experiences, and short videos that highlight how Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math topics are used in apprenticeable careers, and soft skills videos.

  • “How To” planning guides with step-by-step instructions on why and how to host an engaging event, and how to invite schools and companies to present on careers and training opportunities available in your community.

  • Promotional tools to share the Apprenticeships Experience Toolkit with your network and community.

The Apprenticeships Experience kit includes everything you need to plan, promote, and host a live or virtual Apprenticeships event. It’s plug and play - which means you can share parts or all of the toolkit on each of the days, or all of the days!

Special thanks to the following Edge Factor partners for making this toolkit possible: California's Arts, Media & Entertainment, ABB Motors & Mechanical Inc., National Tooling and Machining Association, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, National Institute for Metalworking Skills, myBlueprint, Women in Manufacturing, and PMA Precision Metalforming Association.
