President and Founder of Edge Factor, Jeremy Bout keynoted a live Manufacturing Day event at Rock Valley College, Advanced Technology Center after 200 students wrapped up various manufacturing tours from facilities in the CEANCI region.
This live event opened up students’ eyes to the world of manufacturing while exposing them to first-hand experience of the innovation that happens on the shop floor. This will lend itself to stirring excitement about their futures as they learned about local training programs and companies.
CEANCI, an education for employment office, (EFE) in collaboration with the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, Rock Valley College, area Economic Development offices, and local manufacturers sit on the committee to ensure this event is a success! Each year’s event includes non-traditional female students interested in manufacturing, and this year also included some of our special needs students.
The goal of this annual Manufacturing Day event is to open students' eyes to the extraordinary career opportunities available in their own community while allowing many of them to utilize their talents and skill sets brought from their very own classrooms all while exposing them to the Rock Valley College Advanced Technology Center where they can get a first look at the many training opportunities in the postsecondary world.
“Rock Valley College is excited to open the doors to our Advanced Technology Center to show area high school students the opportunities that await them,” said Dr. Howard Spearman, President of Rock Valley College. “The ATC was created to be a regional hub to train skilled workers for our community’s workforce pipeline. Our graduates fill key positions in our area giving us not only a regional impact but a global one as well.”
CEANCI Community Outreach Coordinator, Beth Mead states: “Within our region, we are known as a rich manufacturing industry with endless job possibilities! The National Manufacturing Day “experience” provides students immense exposure to various careers in this sector, promising a future where they can live & work, making a great wage, all while not having to leave their own region.
On October 13, 2022, students from across the CEANCI region toured local manufacturing companies Post - plant tours they will be inspired as the event continues at the Rock Valley College Advanced Technology Center, Belvidere, Illinois. This Post-event will kick off with Jeremy’s live presentation, at 10:45 sharp! Jeremy is a manufacturer-turned-filmmaker, and his presentation will share pieces of his story as well as stories from Edge Factor’s library. These stories feature real-life people who have used their minds, hands and advanced technology to push back the edge of what’s possible.
