Since our first “Rock MFG DAY kit” in 2015, Edge Factor has been offering free toolkits to provide media and tools for live and virtual events - across North America!
In the last year, we have partnered with school districts, companies, and workforce leaders to host customized virtual events to engage students, families, and job-seekers and help them discover industries, explore careers and training programs, and connect with local businesses and schools.
When Edge Factor partners with schools, community and workforce leaders, and companies to host virtual events, we walk through all of the different types of media, activities, and live or pre-recorded options for Keynote presentations. Event hosts meet with the Edge Factor team to share their objectives and choose which tools they want to include in their event. Each event is unique - but every event has the same heart behind it: together, we want to inspire and engage community members like students, parents, families, and job-seekers to discover training and career pathways!
Kickstart Your Skilled Trades Future Event
When “normal” is no longer considered normal, Edge Factor looks for innovative ways to reshape initiatives and engage students, parents, educators, and companies in communities. On May 5, 2021, 7 Northern Ontario School Boards partnered with Edge Factor to equip students to discover the skilled trades with a virtual career exploration event, called Kickstart your Skilled Trades Future!
The key features in this virtual event included Planning Guides for educators, students, families, and presenters. Interactive pre and post event activities, feedback forms, profiles on local Specialized High Skills Major (SHSM) programs offered at their local high schools. As well as, Company Profiles, inspiring Edge Factor media, 3 keynote presentations, and live sessions with Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Programs, SHSM, Skills Ontario and local Workforce Planning Boards, and more.
The following four playlists included Edge Factor media that focused on four industry sectors within the skilled trades, specifically featuring women and Indigenous community members as video hosts.
- Construction playlist
- Industrial playlist
- Motive Power playlist
- Service playlist
- AND a pre-recorded Keynote presentation with Edge Factor’s Founder, Jeremy Bout introduced each sector
We had 178 educators, 3325 students, 1429 female students, and 330 self identified Indigenous people register for the event!
