May 3, 2021 - This May and June, we are celebrating stories of Indigenous community members who have launched rewarding careers in the skilled trades! NPAAMB has partnered with Edge Factor to provide a free Indigenous Tradespeople toolkit for anyone who wants to watch or share inspiring success stories and help Indigenous community members discover rewarding career pathways. This virtual Experience equips schools, companies, and workforce development leaders with high impact media, a Keynote Presentation, and Best Practices to host virtual events and engaging classroom activities.
With an ever growing need to build the workforce pipeline and fill the skills gap, there is no better time to recognize the opportunities that exist for the Indigenous community members in the skilled trades. Educators, parents, industry, and workforce leaders can register for the Indigenous Tradespeople toolkit to share free career exploration videos with job-seekers and students in classrooms, at events, and in homes! It includes Virtual Workplace Experiences, career profile videos, STEAM and Soft Skills media, a Keynote Presentation, and practical “How To” Guides for organizations to plan, promote and host virtual presentations.
NPAAMB’s mission states, “We attract, develop, and motivate young Indigenous talent by respecting their diverse cultural identities and working closely with the communities we serve.” NPAAMB Indigenous Youth Employment & Training was established in 1992. NPAAMB is a not-for-profit organization working to provide employment and training solutions to prepare self-identifying urban Indigenous youth to launch successful careers. Their goal is to build opportunities that reflect community needs, respond to existing and future labour market trends.
“First Nations, Inuit, and Metis cultures have long passed on knowledge from generation to generation through the art of storytelling,” said Larissa Hofman, Vice President of Edge Factor. “Storytelling is really at the heart of Edge Factor and of this toolkit. It’s about creating an intentional, virtual opportunity for people to explore stories of Indigenous Tradespeople who have found careers they enjoy - in hopes that they too might be inspired to begin a rewarding training and career pathway into the skilled trades.”
The Indigenous Tradespeople Experience is available for FREE from May 1, 2021 to June 30, 2021. To access the free Indigenous Tradespeople Experience.
